New Delhi 🇮🇳 Authorities in New Delhi ordered a mobile internet shutdown within a 4 km radius of the Janpath–Kartavya Path intersection, near Jantar Mantar, ahead of a protest organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on October 10. The shutdown was scheduled to run from 10pm on October 9 to 10pm on October 10.

NDTV reported that the decision was taken by Delhi Police following approval from the Home Department, noting that similar shutdowns had already been imposed during an earlier CJP protest in July.

Business Standard, citing the Press Trust of India (PTI), specified that the measure covers all mobile internet services within the designated area, without affecting the rest of Delhi.

Tigray 🇪🇹 Cloudflare noted on October 8 that internet traffic is still below normal levels in Tigray, in the north of Ethiopia, following the outbreak of fighting between regional forces and the national army.

Turkey 🇹🇷 International and Turkish press organizations have called on X to reject vague or disproportionate blocking requests from Ankara, warning that account-wide restrictions are cutting journalists off from their audiences and preventing the public from accessing news.

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) and the Journalists Union of Turkey (TGS) issued a joint appeal on October 6 following a sharp rise in restrictions targeting journalists, independent media outlets and human rights organisations.

🇨🇦 Psiphon, a software company spun out of the Citizen Lab that helps internet users living under repressive regimes circumvent online censorship, plans to leave Canada if the federal government’s lawful-access bill passes in its current form. If adopted, Bill C-22 would require electronic service providers to make secret changes to their systems, enabling police services and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) to conduct surveillance and monitoring.
